...................Oxon Hoath .................................... Duncton Mill......Nourishing body, mind and soulRelax, unwind and replenish your energy this summer in the heart of Sussex in a retreat run by Linda Hall
A three day retreat at Duncton Mill, Sussex12th June to 15th June 2009 |
Nestled at the foot of the South Downs in mid-Sussex, Duncton Mill is an exceptionally pretty and tranquil hamlet, comprising a large farm house, cottages and barns set around a natural stream-fed trout pond in an area of outstanding beauty.
Surrounded by peaceful lakes, extensive woodland and an organic farm, its close proximity to the Downs and easy access to the stunning surrounding countryside offers ample opportunity for hearty rambling or lazy wandering in the summer afternoons.
Converted in 2004, and run as a family business with genuine enthusiasm and passion by Mike and Barbara Boxhall, it has already established itself as a premier retreat centre. It came top of the list in the Guardian’s top ten international retreat centres, May 2007! The resident chef offers a delicious and imaginative vegetarian menu inspired by cuisines from the Mediterranean, Asia and America.
The centre offers the additional benefit of a fully heated, open air swimming pool!
There are two workshop spaces, the Apple Loft and the Long Barn. The Apple Loft, which we shall use as our base for meditations, is a beautiful, sensitively converted space retaining original beams; flooded with light, it is well ventilated and has a sprung wooden floor. Downstairs, its own lobby contains loos and a kitchenette for refreshments and snacks. The Long Barn is a lovely peaceful room which you may use at any time during the retreat as a quiet space for your own meditative practices such as yoga or Tai Chi, or simply to rest.
Set a little higher up, in the grounds of Duncton Mill with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside, is a dedicated bonfire site, complete with a wooden log seating circle, for camp-fire songs, exchanging stories or just musing. Hidden above the bonfire in a copse is a five foot high stunning carved sandstone Buddha sitting in the middle of a large labyrinth which can be used as a walking meditation.
